Ian Lowe began his vocal studies at the Melba Memorial Conservatorium of Music, and sang regularly with the Victorian State Opera.

Advanced vocal studies were undertaken at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria from 1978 to 1980  where the Salzburg Festival, ORF Radio Choir and Mozarteum Opera Studio provided valuable performance experience in Salzburg, Prague, Barcelona and Norway.

Contracted to the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Germany from 1983 to 1996 Ian performed a wide repertoire of opera, operetta, music theatre & concert works.  Tours with the theatre included Athens, Dresden, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, Warsaw and many German theatres.

Ian has taught singing at the Melba Conservatorium of Music (1996-2008), Camberwell Grammar (1997-present), Xavier College (2000-2007), and Melbourne University Conservatorium (2009-2011).  He has adjudicated many singing competitions and eisteddfods in Melbourne and country Victoria and is an examiner for the AMEB.

Currently he is President of the Lieder Society of Victoria and the Robert Stolz Viennese Music Society, Vice-President of the Kew Community Festival, board member of the Millennium Opera and Conductor of The Melbourne Singers and the Liedertafel Arion.
