Drew Anthony



Drew Anthony was the world tap dance champion in 1984 and has performed with the Queensland Ballet Company, the Australian Youth Ballet Company, the Australian productions of Cats, 42nd
Street, Me and My Girl and in the international smash hit musical Hot Shoe Shuffle.  He was Associate Artistic Director for the Closing Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the Ceremonies of the Asian Games Doha 2006, the Winter Olympics Vancouver 2010, Rugby World Cup NZ 2011, the Arab Games Doha 2011 and he choreographed Jailhouse Rock in London’s West End, Orpheus in the Underworld for Opera Australia and the Australian production of Jolson.  He was the on the creative team for the feature film Happy Feet and the Australian productions of Hairspray, Singin’ in the Rain, Pirates of Penzance and Buddy.


Mr Anthony directed Olivia Newton-John and Friends in Concert, Sony IFA in Berlin, Disney’s High School Musical live production and was the show director for the Crusty Demons (Thirst for Destruction) Australian Tour and the rugby league State of Origin pre-game spectacular.  In ‘headier’ days he was a member of the legendary swing band Pardon Me Boys, was bandleader of The Fabulour Rhythm Boys and had a 20-year association with Australia’s premiere performing arts school, Brent Street.


Mr Anthony was most recently the Head of Choreography for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Associate Produce/Artistic Director for White Night Melbourne and, for the past two years, Creative Director for Kaleidoscope – Perth’s light and illumination festival.
