Modern Vocal

Heather Fletcher teaches singing at the Victorian College of the Arts in the Music Theatre department for the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Foundation courses. She trained overseas at The Royal Academy of Music, London (PGDip) and The Hartt School, USA (BMus).

Heather has performed with Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, State Opera of South Australia, Melbourne City Opera, and CoOpera.  Ensemble credits include Madama Butterfly, Don Pasquale, The Merry Widow, The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, Don Giovanni, Turandot, The Gondoliers, Götterdämmerung, Dead Man Walking, The Gypsy Princess, The Mikado, Carmen, Les Noces, La Traviata, The Three Hermits, Acis and Galatea, Ariodante, and Semele as well as the witches chorus from Macbeth which was aired on the Lesley Garrett Show on BBC television.  Heather has toured commercially in Opera Australia’s The Pirates of Penzance and My Fair Lady.

Her concert experience comprises extensive choral singing in venues such as Carnegie Hall, New York and St Martin in the Fields, London. She has performed as a soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.

Heather is currently pursuing a Master of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with the intention of converting to a PhD in mid-2017. Her thesis investigates vocal pedagogy in Australian tertiary institutions.
